MEN'S RING SIZE GUIDE

Men's ring size guide

Ring size for men uses the same US, UK, EU, India, Japan, and China scales as women's rings. What's different is the typical range, the band width, and how much that width changes the fit, which is exactly what this guide, and the width-adjustment step in the ring size checker, account for. ring size checker.

How to measure ring size for men

The measuring methods themselves don't change for men, an existing ring, a finger circumference, or an on-screen sizer all work the same way described in the how-to guide. What changes is what to do with the result: men's wedding bands are commonly 6mm to 10mm wide, well past the point where width changes how a ring fits. A flat 8mm band at your true diameter will feel noticeably tighter going over the knuckle than a 2mm ring at the same measurement. Use the width adjustment on the calculator, it adds half a size at 6mm and a full size at 8mm or more.

How to find ring size for men without asking

If you're figuring out how to find ring size for men ahead of a proposal or a surprise gift, the on-screen sizer is the most discreet option, it doesn't require the person to know it's happening.

  • Borrow a ring he already wears on the correct hand and finger, ideally the ring finger of the hand he'd wear an engagement or wedding ring on.
  • Measure it with the on-screen sizer while he's not around, it only takes a minute.
  • If no ring is available, ask a close friend or family member for their honest read, most people can eyeball "same as mine" or "bigger/smaller" accurately enough to narrow it down.
  • When in doubt, size up slightly. Most jewelers can resize a ring down more easily than up.

How to figure out ring size for men with a bigger knuckle

Men's hands often show a bigger gap between knuckle size and base-of-finger size than women's, especially for those who do manual work. If the knuckle is noticeably larger, measure both and either size for the knuckle or ask about a comfort-fit interior, which rounds the inside edge so the ring passes over the knuckle more easily without sizing up.
